Description: I put quite a bit of energy into duplicating the lively and cheerful nature of this elegant little dog, and think he has quite a sweet expression! The Maltese is surprisingly, at least to me, a rather ancient little dog! There is talk of a dog described from 25AD that fits the description of the Maltese. As to whether the dog came from the island of Malta or not, that certainty has been lost to the sands of time, at least as far as we know today. There are later portraits of a Maltese from the 18th century which are unmistakable. One in particular from 1763 is actually typical of a modern Maltese. It is a favorite small dog among many people. It has a happy go lucky personality and is quite glamorous, which appeals to a lot of people. The only really downside to the breed is the amount of time it takes to keep them groomed properly. But they are so popular that apparently the trouble of grooming them has been deemed worthy of the bother! This is my version of the lively and happy breed in a sterling silver Maltese charm.
