Description: I am amazed! The Jack Russell terrier was recognized by the British Kennel Club in 1990! Apparently they had a good reason, though. They said up until that time there just wasn’t enough standardization of the breed’s characteristics to recognize it and give it pure breed status. It still seems rather odd to me! Well, you know the old saying- better late than never! To be perfectly exact here, the only variation of the breed that they recognize is the Parson Jack Russell terrier, not just any Jack Russell terrier. There are other terriers that are called Jack Russells, and there is thought to be way too much variation in these dogs to give them official recognition. Man, it makes my fingers sore just typing this stuff! (Or maybe it’s because I’ve been writing descriptions for the past 10 hours nonstop.) If I may point out something here, my little dog does not have the title Parson in front of his name, so I’m sorry to say that he is not officially recognized. Oh well. Sometimes you just have to be happy with what you have and smile about it anyway.
