Description: Butterflies are so aesthetic. I am especially lucky to live in a place that allows me to glance out the window anytime during the day and watch the frolicking of a large variety of butterflies. When I was a kid we used to collect the occasional chrysalis of a butterfly, keep it in the porch all winter and watch the emergence of the glorious adult butterfly in the following spring. Of course we always let it go then, even though if I had been able to figure out a way to keep it as a pet I most certainly would have done it! In one of my books on exotic pets it talks about keeping butterflies as pets and then letting them go, but only if the species is a native one to the area. That is important! We don’t want to be overrun with insects from South America who find our local live oak trees a delicious new snack or something. You just never know what might happen when people start doing a little of their own private shifting of the species. Not a good idea! If you have a charms bracelet of your own, this silver butterfly charm would be quite fetching on it, don’t you think?
