Description: Pewter jewelry has its own look- it’s a bit more rustic looking and not quite as bright as sterling silver. If you prefer a vet caduceus tie tack/lapel pin in silver or gold- you can find those on my website as well. I also make vet caduceus pendants and earrings in sterling silver and gold. By popular consent veterinarians seem to call this symbol a caduceus and that is enough of a word to get used to without getting too deeply into the vocabulary. But I did look it up and the dictionary says a caduceus is a symbol which is a staff with two snakes twined around it and wings at the top and it is used as a symbol by the medical profession. Now, our caduceus, having only one snake, should perhaps be more rightly called The Staff of Asclepius (the Greek name) or Aesculapius (the Roman name) who was the god of medicine. But clearly, things get named and used and that becomes the reality and I am calling this veterinary caduceus jewelry so everyone will know what I’m talking about! At any rate, pewter lapel pins do have some advantages-they’re more economical than the precious metals, and you never have to polish them! There is a larger design - the pewter vet caduceus lapel pin - and many others at vet gift home This small veterinary caduceus lapel pin in pewter is nice for a veterinarian who is starting his or her practice and has to watch where the pennies go for a while. |
