If I worked with iguanas, or owned an iguana, I’d definitely wear this piece. I believe a man could get away with wearing it, as well. This particular design works very well in the pewter. And it’s small enough to be a tie tack.

I see that the iguana is a popular icon around Florida. As far as I know, there are no native iguanas that lived in this state prior to the escaped pet phenomenon of the twentieth century. I read a story here an there about a large iguana startling someone in Miami similar to the native alligators. I could probably name a dozen bars here and around Tampa bay that have iguana related names, banners, motifs etc. I do not frequent these bars or lounges but I see their ads and drive past them. It occurred to me that today large iguanas in various colors and shapes may have replaced the “pink elephants” formerly experienced by heavy drinkers of the 1950’s. Lazying around in a tropical paradise does have some broad appeal and the iguana adds some local color to the image.

How easy is it to find iguana themed gifts? I don’t know the answer, but I’ll bet most iguana lovers would find a use for this unusual pewter iguana head lapel pin.
