Description: Now here is a Big Dog sized subject for dog jewelry. They can weigh 150 pounds, considerably more than me. I think these were the big water dogs than gave the Labrador retriever the chance to be a smaller water dog. I read where they have two coats of hair with the outer one being water resistant. Water resistant doesn’t sound too good to me but they seem to get along fine. Any water resistant garment I have had always got soaked through to the inside anytime it got really rained on and Newfoundlands have to be swimming in the sea with theirs. I think of these dogs as having gone sailing off on Viking ships and helping the men survive exploration of new lands but I haven’t done any research to see if they actually go back that far in time. This is currently the only Newfie design on my web site. I promise to revisit the Newfoundland breed at some point, redesign the head, and create some more Newfie jewelry probably in sterling silver and some in 14k gold as well. Until that time, I do have this pewter Newfoundland lapel pin/ tie tack that will work for some newfie lovers. Why not have a whole collection of dog lapel pins made in pewter? If you want something that could represent many different breeds, you could always wear this loving symbol- a paw print lapel pin cast in pewter. |
