Description:
They were originally bred in the United States as fighting dogs in (not surprisingly) the city of Boston. It reportedly got its official name recognized in the 1890's and by the 1920's became one of the most popular dog breeds in this country. The Boston Terrier was ranked number 15 in 2006 according to the AKC, a gain from 17th the year before. They definitely are a popular dog jewelry breed amongst The Magic Zoo crowd. The dogs we have encountered have been pretty sweet but you can tell that they could still put up a good fight when called upon to do so.
A bit of Boston Terrier jewelry makes a cheery present for oneself or a friend and a little pin like this has a variety of uses. My pewter items are quite economical since it is not one of the precious metals, but pewter jewelry has always been popular for its own unique look. Of course I do make Boston jewelry in both sterling silver and 14k gold, as well.
If you just want a little decoration for a scrub outfit (I, of course, am talking to my many friends in the veterinary profession) or a jacket or hat or maybe even a tie, this Boston terrier lapel pin in pewter would do quite nicely.
