Pewter jewelry has a place in the jewelry boxes of many- I think it has a charm all of its own. The look is just a little rougher, as it doesn’t polish in quite the same way as silver does. My pewter jewelry is considered fine pewter. It is lead free pewter, with a high tin content. I love the way it looks, rather “organic” in nature, with a look that seems more hand hewn than the more satiny smooth polish of sterling silver. Perhaps the most attractive aspect of pewter jewellery is that it is not expensive. For those who love sterling silver but can’t afford it, pewter is a good second choice. I honestly spend just as much time designing my pewter jewelry as I do designing the pieces that are destined to be cast in sterling or 14k gold. I believe that anything I create should have personality and warmth. My pewter earrings, pins and necklaces are no exception. I was excited to find out what the possibilities were in creating pewter jewelry designs. Basically, they are limitless. I can make almost anything in pewter that I can in the precious metals. The only thing I have to be more aware of has to do with size. Pewter is heavier, and for that reason I don’t expect to design anything terribly large in the way of jewelry. But except for that, I want to expand my pewter jewelry line, so keep checking my pewter jewelry for new and exciting developments! |
