Pewter Animal Jewelry

Pewter Animal Jewelry

Unique Pewter Animal Jewelry Designs of All Types

Designing animal jewelry in fine, lead-free pewter is especially rewarding to me, because many of my pewter designs also end up as enameled pieces. And pewter itself has a wonderful, hand crafted look that goes back many centuries. I’ve never gotten over the joy of turning an idea into a dog earring, cat necklace or other animal that will someday be worn proudly. My favorite new design is the key chain, and I’ll be adding more and more to that group as time goes on. The look is just a little rougher, as it doesn’t polish in quite the same way as silver does.

. I use fine lead free pewter, with a high tin content. I love the way it looks, rather “organic” in nature, with a look that seems more hand hewn than the more satiny smooth polish of sterling silver.

An attractive aspect is that it is not expensive. For those who love sterling silver but can’t afford it, pewter is a good second choice.

I honestly spend just as much time designing it as I do designing the pieces that are destined to be cast as silver or 14k gold jewelry at The Magic Zoo. I believe that anything I create should have personality and warmth. These earrings, pins and necklaces are no exception.

I was excited to find out what the limitless possibilities. I can make almost anything in this metal that I can in the precious metals.

The only thing I have to be more aware of has to do with size. Pewter is heavier, and for that reason I don’t expect to design anything terribly large..

I will be expanding my pewter animal jewelry line, so keep checking for new and exciting developments!
