I think veterinarians should be very proud of themselves for doing such a fine job. It is amazing to me that with all the hard training they have done and with their firm commitment to ongoing continuing education they are as a group the least arrogant profession I have encountered. Your typical veterinarian is friendly, outgoing and willing to really communicate with just about any human or animal they run into. From my observation point outside the profession it seems to me that the aloof , condescending  scholar type is pretty much non-existent in this field. This is quite remarkable considering  that they are doctors to a wide range of animal anatomy, physiology and diseases. I can’t begin to imagine how much they need to know just to get through their day. And so many don’t even like to be called “Dr.”, a title they well deserve.
