Rats are one of those animals that get mixed reviews. Some people love them and enjoy them as pets. Other people are on the phone to an exterminator at the first sign of one. I’m sure one’s view of rats depends on the time and place and circumstances. You have cultures revering the rat and then you have the black death in the 1300’s in Europe spread by fleas hopping around on the backs of rats. I suppose any species could become too much of a good thing. It seems to keep pretty balanced though occasionally mankind interferes a little too much and upsets the numbers.

Anyways, rats seem to be an animal man wants to keep his eye on a bit more than other species.
