I wanted something fun, something silly, a little something to wear for fun. I give you… a cute pair of cat earring studs!

I suppose if you had to assign this kitty face a breed type, it would look most like the round faced British short hair. These are stocky little cats with a pleasant expression and a solid body. My reference states that they probably are descendants of domestic cats that came to the British Isles via Roman colonists about 2,000 years ago. Of course today’s carefully bred stock probably don’t bear much resemblance to those cats of way back when.

Although this breed was popular during the first cat shows in the late 19th century, they lost favor for a while only coming back into favor in the l930s. Many different colors were bred, probably the most popular was the British blue.

Most people realize that gold posts are a good choice for someone with newly pierced ears, as gold is a safe metal for most people and the one with the least likelihood to cause an allergic reaction. So this pair of gold cat earrings are not only cute, but a great gift for the newly (ear) pierced among us!
