Description: It must be one of the most appealing farm animals there are. One of my customers is a veterinarian who raises Highland cattle. She originally asked me to design one for her in clay, and it turned out so well and I loved it so much that I decided to craft one in 14k gold.
This breed is, of course from Scotland. Originally the Highland cow (or “Heelan Coo”) came in two colors, black and red. I’ve only seen the red variety, but I understand that they can appear in a number of colors today. The photograph that my design was modeled after was a red one.
Some ranchers like them because of the fact that they’ll eat plants other cattle won’t touch. Because they are insulated from the cold by their long coats, they tend to be leaner than their fat insulated cousins. They actually have a double layer of hair. One is a downy undercoat. The outer coat, which can grow to over a foot in length, has a natural oil that helps shed water.
My 14k gold Highland cow pin pendant would be a fantastic gift for someone who loves these beautiful furry bovines. I design my gold farm animal pins gifts with just such people in mind! How's about a woolly gold sheep pin for someone?
