It doesn’t seem like there’s a real leader, but the males have a kind of pecking order that is based on how big they are. They are definitely gregarious, and will help out one of their own that is injured, pushing themselves under its flippers and lifting it up so it can breathe. I think that’s one of the characteristics that make dolphin so appealing. They really seem to care about each other.
