Description: For some of my pieces, I feel that the cost is substantial enough that even before the piece is shipped it should be evaluated by the person for whom it is intended to make sure it’s something she would like to wear. This is actually for both of our benefit! The Quarter Horse is certainly an American breed, and is almost as old as the very first settlers to this country. The earliest of this breed was discovered to be a great horse for riding over short distances, and was actually superior to the Thoroughbred for this purpose. Their hindquarters were extremely powerful. As a matter of fact, the Quarter Horse is still considered to be superior to the Thoroughbred for short distance riding, so it may be pretty close to its ancestral form and talents. Before they were called Quarter Horses, they were dubbed “Short Horses” for their ability to run at top speed for short distances. I figured this next piece of information out before I read the following: They were called Quarter Horses because they were excellent at the quarter mile races!
