Description:
There have a number of different theories as to the origin of the Yorkshire terrier, but what seems to be agreed upon is that the genesis of the breed is a little ratting dog developed by the Scottish workers who migrated to Yorkshire to work in the mines. Some of the ancestry seems to be the Broken Haired terrier, the Long Haired Leed terrier, the Manchester terrier, the black and tan terrier and the Dandie Dinmont terrier. In 1886 it received the official name, Yorkshire terrier, that it bears to this day.
Despite the fact that early judges of the breed predicted an early demise of its kind. The Yorkie is now the most popular toy breed in all of Great Britain! Those early miners really have something to b proud of!
To go from a tough little working dog to a favored lady’s pet seems like a stretch, but the Yorkies seems to have made the transition with aplomb.
This elegant gold Yorkie pin pendant is a great piece of dog jewelry for any kind of wear, casual to dressy.
