The sheltie was used on the small farms known as crofts on the island, but now the crofts are becoming larger and the need is for larger dogs to do the work that once these little dogs were responsible for and could handle themselves.
But the shelties were and probably still are marvelous sheepdogs, nipping at the heels of the sheep and chasing them for long periods of time if necessary. It works with a lot of enthusiasm and with great agility. I imagine that it would be a wonderful thing to have a whole little pack of these dogs in your house. It must be a wonderful thing to be a breeder of these little dogs. I don’t think I’ve ever had the opportunity to see a sheltie puppy, but they must be unbelievably cute. It sounds like they are usually born in litters of from four to six puppies, and they are easy to rear. If any of the puppies are on the shy side, it’s said they should be taken out and exposed to different people and activities so they get used to noise and activity. This gold sheltie pin pendant would make a wonderful gift for someone who is enamored of this marvelous dog breed.
