I know this breed has a variety of coat colors, each one is unique.

The Australian cattle dog is a medium sized dog with a very muscular build. The head is wide and its muzzle is strong and deep. When the dog is in an awake and alert frame of mind the ears are perfectly erect, nice wide triangles with a large base. The chest is broad.

When the dog is busily chasing something or happily running, the tail stands up; otherwise it hangs straight down. I like the idea of a dog’s tail as being an indicator of its mood. Not just that it wags when it’s happy, but having other indicators of the animals welfare as well.

Due to its dingo ancestry, this dog is able to withstand a dry climate and harsh conditions. Some other characteristics attributed to the dingo are the cattle dog’s amazing ability to act with a great amount of stealth and speed, and its extremely acute sense of hearing. They are truly a breed well suited to life in Australia as a working dog.
