Description: The rhinoceros is related to the horse and the tapir, even though you’d probably never guess it from looking at it. But the structure of the toe is quite similar, all the weight of each leg being born on a single toe. Rhinos have extremely sensitive noses. In other words, they have an acute sense of smell. Black rhinos are solitary beasts, almost always seen alone. The young calves that are no longer receiving milk from their mothers are often seen with one or two other young rhinos. Their home ranges can vary according to the environment that it’s in. Basically, the more fertile the area is, the smaller the home range is. This makes sense because in an area that has a lot of vegetation and plenty of water, the rhino doesn’t have to move around as much to find what he needs to survive. In fact, in a sub-desert area the rhinos are completely nomadic and it’s impossible to even establish if they have a home range at all. Rhinos are seen being busy normally in the morning and evening. They cool off later on by having a nice mud wallow, often in the same place every evening. This is a good looking gold rhino pendant, and has a very nice feel to it.
