Description: It must be lonely, surrounded by nothing but placental mammals. I wonder if he thinks wistfully of Australia as his marsupial homeland, even though he originated in North America. A while ago a just out of babyhood possum appeared in my yard. She was a little toughie with those needle sharp teeth, but I thought she was adorable. I’ve met people who do possum rescue, even raising the little babies by hand. That is a very dedicated animal lover for you. Possums that are feigning death have been proven to actually be in an alert state, not unconscious at all. They’re actually just very adept actors, and we should applaud their efforts! (It seems that certain researchers actually attached an encephalogram to a possum in this state and discovered that the patterns of electrical currents in its brain matched an alert animal) You have to give it to those scientists who went to all that trouble! But it was a pretty smart way to figure it out. I believe this scruffy little 14k gold large possum pendant could be a badge of honor worn by those worthy animal rehabilitators. I especially like the idea of a possum in gold! |
