Description: The word “koala” is a word from the native aboriginal people’s tongue that means “no water”. It looks like the aborigines named them that, based on the fact they are never seen drinking anything. But here’s something that is quite surprising; koalas are good swimmers! It’ll go into a body of water all on it’s own, swim in it and then lick the water from its fur and swallow it. So they aren’t really “no water” animals after all. But my question is this- how often do they do this? On the other hand, they’ve also been seen licking water from pools created after a rain storm. Well, I certainly learned something new! It’s interesting to me how the animals that are most prone to being rescued from extinction tend to be visually appealing to people. What if a really scary, dangerous animal were about to go extinct? Take the great white shark, for instance. How many stuffed sharks have you seen go as baby gifts lately? See what I mean. Not that I’m arguing. I’m prone to the same sentimental conduct regarding animals as a lot of other people. But I probably am a little more able to look at things analytically. However, it can’t hurt to continue to wear cute koala jewelry.
