Description: It seems like having a ferret in the home would be akin to having your own private otter to play with. (Only otters are most definitely not domesticated and I’ve heard can be rather fierce!) Ferrets are much more outgoing than, say, my small gold guinea pig pendant. Whatever your favorite small pet is, you're likely to find it on my page for gold small critter pendants. Although ferrets are considered domesticated, they supposedly could revert to their wild state given the perfect conditions. There seems to be some argument regarding this possibility, however. There was one example cited in my book of ferrets being released on an island to rid it of the overpopulation of rabbits. This they did so quite efficiently, but at the same time eliminated other native animals as well. However the question remains, were these really ferrets? Perhaps they were indeed polecats, which look quite similar. I would bet on the polecats, because much evidence states that ferrets can’t survive without the help of humans. One of my sources referred to the ferret as being an “albino polecat”. I was wondering if then the regular colored ferret was perhaps none other than a plain old polecat, mistaken for a ferret that then got all the blame. Can this be possible? I looked up polecat in my animal encyclopedia, and sure enough this looks exactly like a ferret. Hmm, this bears further study, for sure! Do you love these wonderful members of the weasel family? I think there is something so fun about wearing a beautiful 14k gold ferret pendant, especially if that is your pet animal of choice. |
