Description: The bearded lizards have a rather elaborate courtship using skills you might have wanted to attribute to my 14k chameleon pendant! But this is no mistake--the bearded lizard goes through all of this for the joy of parenthood: to begin with, the lady lizard develops a patch of red where the tail meets the body. Her gentleman friend has a green one in the same place on his body. His underbelly becomes black all the way up to his throat. His back becomes rather bright, a combination of grey, yellow and a bright green. Of course he also makes his body bigger by blowing it up. He then opens his mouth and flashes the beauteous yellow color within towards his lady love’s adoring eyes. Next he nods his head and stretches his beard to make it look as impressive as possible. Finally, he runs around in front of her and positions himself at a right angle from her body, a couple feet in front. He repeats the whole action many times before mating actually occurs. Sounds like the reptile equivalent of dinner in a very expensive restaurant, a dozen roses and words of poetry murmured by the romantic light of the full moon. I think he earns it. Later the female digs a hole and buries herself in it. She lays anywhere from 8 to 24 eggs, leaves the hole and then covers it with sand. The babies hatch in 7 months. And that is family life in the world of the bearded dragon! You can wear this gold bearded dragon pendant with just about anything.
