Description: When I met a veterinarian who was also an equestrian last year, she told me that she and other horsewomen that she knew had been having a hard time finding a design of a hoof print to wear. It doesn’t seem like that would be too difficult, but when I searched for one I also had some trouble. I hope that my pendant fulfills a need, and if you would like to see anything else in this motif and would care to tell me your thoughts on this design, please don’t hesitate to email me. I found the structure of the horse’s foot to be an interesting one indeed. It seems like a complex system compared to the straightforward foot that we possess, but for a horse, it offers the ideal method of locomotion for his particular body type. It is a very important part of the animal’s anatomy. One of the reason race horses become crippled when still young is because they’ve been bred to have hooves that are too small. Imagine all that weight being pounded on during a race, and only dainty little feet to receive the blows. It’s been said that if a hoof is shaped correctly, it can’t be too large. Of course I’m a novice in this area, but I do recognize common sense when I see it! I do hope my gold hoof print has a special meaning for you and will incorporate nicely into your collection of equine jewelry. |
