Description: I love reading about animals, especially about the evolution of the different species and about the animals that retain characteristics from earlier times. Such a horse is the Norwegian Fjord horse. A few years ago one of my customers asked me to make his wife a pin of the Norwegian Fjord horse, which he had on his ranch. I obliged and created it in the clay for him. But while I was working on it I did a little research, much of which I’ve forgotten. But recently I found some information about this fascinating breed. They are considered ancient, and have some things about them that are similar to the Asian Wild Horse. They were ridden by the Vikings, which is a fabulous bit of romantic history. They are considered to be one of the ancestors of the European draft horse breeds. The coloring is dun and they have an upright mane that is two-toned. I think that more than most anything else about the horse makes them look quite ancient as a breed. Perhaps someday I’ll create a gold horse jewelry version of the Norwegian Fjord horse! In the meantime, I have several gold horse pendant pieces for your consideration, such as my classic English horse pendant in 14k.
