Braiding the mane is now a requirement in many situations. Competitive sports and show classes both make use of the braided mane. It really does show off a good neck because there’s no distraction as there would be from a long mane. Before the mane is braided it must have already been thinned and pulled short. You must brush the mane and wet it so it lies flat. It’s a rather long and tedious process, but well worth it in the end. I assume the horse is patient throughout this process! The tail can also be braided, which gives it a very neat look. To me it looks like braiding the tail would be a lot easier and possibly more fun than making those little balls on the neck. But what do I know! I do hope some sweet young woman enjoys my gold English horse pendant.
