Description: The pendant is a stylized face of a pretty typical and unmistakable sheep. I remember creating it and the first time I saw it cast in the precious metal, which was quite exciting for me. Sheep are a milk producing animal in many countries and are milked by hand. The main reason for this is that in the places where sheep milk is an important part of the diet, the people are too poor to afford cows, nor are they living in places where cows could survive. This, by deduction would mean that they were also too poor to afford milking machines. I think they are probably better off drinking sheep milk than cow’s milk, anyway. Here, we're more likely to encounter goat milk, another wonderful dairy option, and I have created a plump little gold goat pendant for those who keep goats. In the USA ewes are milked when the lambs are weaned, or after the lambs have nursed 8 to 10 hours a day. Then the two are separated for the night and the ewes are milked again first thing in the morning. That seems like a pretty humane arrangement for all concerned, since, after all, they are dairy goats.
