Description: This sideways body view of the chubby miniature goat is one I especially find endearing. Another of my favorites is my gold sheep pendant in which I enjoyed creating the endless curls of that amazing woolly body! Surprisingly, my 14k farm animal pendants are some of the most personable of all the animals I offer--perhaps because farm animal jewelry is less common, and fewer people seem aware of the personality that these creatures have. Goats are marvelous climbers. There are even reports of goats climbing on the backs of donkeys in order to reach the leaves of an especially appealing tree. I used to enjoy watching the little miniature goats down the road stand on the highest possible thing in the barnyard, even if it was just a few inches higher than anything else. In one of my books, there’s a picture of a goat on a tree branch about fifteen feet in the air, carefully balancing among the foliage. It’s almost uncanny how sure footed goats are. I’m sure the mountain goats cut it pretty close (at least from a human perspective) when they’re ascending or descending the heights where they spend most of their lives. The other thing I remember most vividly about the “goats next door” were the sessions of head butting, and that hollow, percussion sound when head met head. It seemed like they were playing, but I don’t know enough about goat life to know if this was serious stuff or just a mock battle. I’m quite sure that this gold goat pendant would be for someone who was seriously interested in all things goat. It is a magnificent piece of 14k gold goat jewelry. |
