Description: It’s quite possible that the original reason for the domestication of the cow is that it was used for religious purposes. Bulls have always been admired for their strength, and were quite possibly used strictly as sacrificial animals. Another theory is that the ancient auruch breed of wild cattle were venerated because of their horn shape, which resembles a moon crescent. This shape was an object of worship in ancient times. The milking of cows wasn’t possible until they were made more docile after years of domestication. There is art work from Mesopotamia from about 3,100 BC that shows some men, possibly priests, milking a cow. Even cow dung was utilized as a fuel source when wood wasn’t available for heating. In some places in Mongolia, Yak dung is still used for this purpose. Have you seen the dangling cow earrings I’ve created to go with the pendant?
