Description: The Yorkie was not immediately taken to heart by critics when it made its first appearance in the dog show world. Many spoke disparagingly of it and predicted there was not future for this little dog. Boy were they wrong! Sometimes one just never knows what direction a new idea will go, even if that new idea is a little golden terrier! It seems that the men folk lost interest in the dog when it was no longer used as a sporting fighter, but the women adored the way it could sit in the crook of an arm, or look outside of a handbag carried for that purpose. These dogs have a fabulous and happy personality, and they are quite courageous, for sure something attributed to their colorful past. They are smart little things and quite lovable to boot. Some say that the Yorkie is the most playful of all the terriers (while a much more patient creature can be found in my 14k gold basset pendant). Due to their small size, they make ideal companions for city dwellers as they are comfortable in an apartment setting. I can see how a little dog would be almost essential if you lived in big city divorced from the flora and fauna of the outdoors.
