Description: A breed club for the Scottish terrier was formed in 1882. In the ensuing years the Scottie was famously the most popular of all the terriers and seems like the quintessential British dog. I picture him at the feet of his master in a cozy room sitting by a crackling fire, waiting patiently for a pet or a dog biscuit. The scottie with his self importance and devil-may-care carriage made him a star in the show ring. He may have been trimmed to look different than the tough little vermin catcher, but he is still the same brave dog that bravely went after wild animals without fear for his own safety. I think it’s interesting that when the original breed standards were organized, the favored color of this breed was not the black that most people associate with him, but was red brindle with black muzzle and ear tips.
