Description: In their native habitat, African Greys mate for life. Even during the mating season they stay in the flock. They just seem to like each other! I like the idea of animals forming communities and presumably looking after each other as well, and I only wish the subject of my gold cockatoo pendant could learn to be so social! I know that African greys are intelligent, and somehow this really confirms it for me. Each nesting pair of birds finds its own little nesting cavity up high in a tree. They like to have their nesting holes close together, probably so the females can gossip when they’re sitting on their eggs. It would probably get a little boring otherwise. The only difference between the sexes that you can actually see, is that the males are just a little bigger than the females, and their heads may be flatter and a little squarer. Also the males are usually darker. The females may also have almond shaped eyes and a more slender neck. They sound absolutely fetching! Even with all these observable differences between the boys and the girls, apparently even experienced breeders are sometimes fooled. I guess the only important thing is that the Greys recognize each other’s sex! A 14k gold African grey pendant would make a nice little something to hang around your neck, don’t you think?
