Capuchin monkeys, the primate group that these little earrings belong to, have become somewhat the artists of late. It’s been said that if you give one a paint brush and some paint that they will diligently create a monkey master piece, suitable for framing. Others compare their work to that of a child under 2 years old who mostly scribbles as he’s learning the art of creating images on paper.

I still think it’s a lovely idea, and for the monkeys that are kept in labs, I hope they are given paints and brushes to pass their time with. Who knows how good they could get with a bit of practice? They are said to be very intelligent primates, some say they compare favorably with the chimpanzee.

One type of capuchin like monkey, the squirrel monkey, has a language that consists of at least 26 different calls. The calls are all made up of 5 basic sounds. Not bad for a monkey!
