The rhinoceros, all of them, are quite dependant on a water source. When there is a lake or other water pool available they will drink daily. If they have to, they can survive up to 5 days without water. The other reason they need to be near water is so they can get in and cool off. They also coat themselves in mud for protection against biting insects.

Rhinos have their first calves when they are between 6 and 8 years old. Normally they bear one baby at a time, and the next birth is usually at least 2 to 4 years later.
