There are about 50 breeds of domestic rabbits. The smallest is the Netherland dwarf rabbit, which weighs about 2 pounds. The largest is the Flemish Giant rabbit, which weighs about 16 pounds. Aren’t they practically neighbors?

Sometimes domestic rabbits have soft and short fur and sometimes their fur is long and luxurious like the Angora rabbit. Every single domestic rabbit is descended from one breed. The much maligned European rabbit is the grand daddy and grand mammy of all domestic rabbits. What a surprise! They’re already everywhere in the wild. They may as well be everywhere in the home as well.

At least domestic rabbits can be neutered. Or at least I would think so. Wouldn’t it be something if these decorative pets started showing up feral? It’s beyond comprehension. Now that I think of it, I have been seeing a lot more cottontails around the neighborhood lately.
