Description: The main challenge was in creating the illusion of those amazing, independently moving eyes!
Male chameleons are territorial and keep out their rivals by bluffing only. It blows itself up in size, which seems to be the extent of it. They allow females to enter their domain and mate freely with them, unless the lady of his desires is already “with chameleon”, so to speak. There are some species that give birth to live young and others that are egg layers. The problem the egg laying kind has is that they can lay up to 50 at a time, which makes it hard to hide them. The way one chameleon does it is to climb down the tree, dig a hole in the ground to lay her clutch in, and then cover it up with dirt and sticks. When the babies eventually hatch they have to dig their way through the dirt to freedom. When chameleons are born live, they have to struggle out of a membrane and then walk on down the twig. Hard luck for the youngster with a hungry mom. I’ll just leave it at that. My gold chameleon earrings are quite different than your run of the mill gold reptile jewelry, as I think and hope you’ll agree! Note that my 14k gold reptile earrings contain one amphibian, the classic frog gold earrings, but there was just no other place to put him in the store! |
