Description: The bearded dragon or bearded lizard as it’s also called, is covered with little spines. Around the bottom of its jaw is a pouch. You can see this more easily in the male than in the female, and he inflates it when he’s courting some spiny young thing. To further enhance his male beauty, he opens his mouth, exposing the bright yellow inside. I’m sure she swoons with rapture at this point.
This is a rather full bodied lizard that can grow to about 2 feet long. The head is long and the tail is like a whip. They can be anywhere from grey to yellow. The color depends mostly on the mood of the lizard, and sometimes the color of his surroundings. A lizard that is unwell has a black back and pale yellow legs.
Bearded dragons live in rather barren country in eastern Australia. The countryside they’re most comfortable in has a lot of sparse woods, sand and shoreline. If the habitat is extremely dry, the colors of the lizard are that much richer.
I love how this gold bearded dragon pair of dangling earrings looks in this metal. Sort of like it was meant to be!
Another one I like a lot is the gold chameleon earrings from the old world, part of my gold reptile earring gifts section.
