Description: When I first had the idea of creating some gold sheep earrings, I was at a loss for the breed to use as a model! Well, I did my usual thing which was just to look at a bunch of sheep and pick the one that was naturally the most appealing to me. And wouldn’t you know it, now I couldn’t tell you which one it was. Life is complex sometimes. For a very long time, probably thousands upon thousands of years, sheep were kept for their nutritional milk. Hardly anyone in the United States has tasted it, but in other countries it’s a part of the economy and culture of the people. There are about 100 sheep dairy farms in the USA, which actually surprised me. I have seen sheep cheese on occasion, but not even in my local health food store have I seen sheep milk. It is said to be a very good quality milk, loaded with vitamins and minerals. According to one source, sheep milk has more of a cancer fighting and fat reducing fat than milk from pigs, goats or cattle. I’d certainly try it if I could find it anywhere for sale!
