Description:
The pit bull is sometimes known as the Yankee terrier. I originally thought it was developed in the USA, but apparently it is from Great Britain and was brought to the United States in 1870 to fight other dogs in pits for entertainment. I am certainly no fan of television, but that might actually be preferable as entertainment to watching two dogs tear each other to pieces just for the “fun” of the spectators!
When the popularity of dog fighting waned due to its illegality the pit bull gained some popularity as a companion dog. Pit bulls bred by a reputable person should certainly be trustworthy dogs, suitable for life in a home. However, it may still be aggressive to other dogs and should be kept on a lead. There have been some breeders who have been anything but ethical in their breeding and have made the dogs aggressive and consequently feared.
In England there are strict laws regarding the keeping of these dogs, and they can’t be bred there, according to one source. I find that kind of interesting considering the fact that England is where they hail from originally.
But I decided to offer these 14k gold pit bull earrings to my customers, and here they are!
