Description:
Huskies are said to have no odor at all. I find that very interesting and subject to all kinds of my unusual theories, such as this one: perhaps the wolf ancestry of the husky is at play here, because the wolf wouldn’t want his presence to be known to his prey. You see what happens? I start getting creative with facts that can be instantly disproved. It’s probably a good thing that I don’t embarrass easily, at least about things like this. I consider it my right as an artist to make up stuff.
During the gold rush in Alaska in the late 19th century sled dogs became important. In fact, they were the only way to get around in Alaska. If you have never seen it, you should watch Charlie Chaplin’s The Gold Rush, a wonderful comedy about that time, produced not that long after it actually happened. I can’t remember if there was a sled and dogs in that movie, but I do believe there were.
During World War II, the husky was utilized in rescue work. I have never heard of this, and would be interested in learning more about it. Where were these rescues carried out by Huskies? Surely not in the South Pacific!
My gold husky earrings were crafted for the person who has huskies on her mind!
