Did you realize that Hoover the dog and a cat name of Poindexter live right here in Clearwater? Or so my imagination tells me. Every day at about 1:00 in the afternoon Hoover listens for the soft scraping sound as Poindexter scoots under the white fence to spend another afternoon in the company of the dog who has become his best friend.

Both dog and cat are lonesome. Hoover lives with a nice old woman who doesn’t understand him and Poindexter is homeless. They look forward to their conversations that are mostly gossip about the other dogs and cats in the neighborhood, and what the mockingbird happens to be talking about that day. (She tends to bring news from outside the neighborhood, but because it’s secondhand information, they can’t always believe her.)

Sometimes the dog gets tired and lets the cat curl up with him under the mango tree. The cat purrs, feeling safe in the furry company of the big golden retriever. The purring seems to put Hoover to sleep. The old woman peers out the window and wonders.

This is the kind of thing I think about and make up when I work on jewelry like this! And this is what results in a pair gold dog cat earrings such as you see here.
