The Pembroke Welsh corgi is the corgi with the cattle herding past, and may try to give a family member an encouraging nip just to get him going in the little dog’s preferred direction. Definitely something to be discouraged! I do find it interesting that a corgi tends to do this as almost a hereditary ability. I mean, who taught him to nip at the heels of his owners or their children?

Despite their low to the ground nature, the corgi is a great guard dog. (I have another close to the ground design - frisky gold dachshund earrings.) He loves his family and can make a good companion for the kids. Just looking at a picture of this little dog I can tell that he wouldn’t be one to back down if those he loved were being in any way threatened. Every one of them I have met has been quite an enjoyable experience.

They come in a number of colors, including the exotic (to me, anyway) blue merle which often sports either blue eyes or odd eyes (One eye brown and the other blue). The color I most associate with a corgi is a warm gold with white on the chest, toes and face.
