Description: Some say that the domestic short hair, or the American short hair as it’s more properly known, arrived from Europe with the first colonists. It has a pedigree from the Cat Fancier’s Association, and is probably the most common cat. It is not the name of a single breed, but covers many types and colors. No other domestic cat boasts the cleanliness of the cat. I think of cats as being pretty low maintenance pets. Not that you don’t have to care for, love and take them to the veterinarian when they’re ill, but they don’t require long walks and constant companionship in the same way that a dog does. I also like the fact that from the most exotic hairless cat to the fluffiest Persian, the basic shape and conformation remains the same. Dogs are all over the spectrum, but by virtue of genes or stubbornness on the part of the cat, our current feline companions look pretty similar to their wild ancestors, every one of them.
