Gold bug earrings may seem to be something that no woman in her right mind would think twice about putting on. Not true! I’ve discovered many women besides myself that are fascinated by these little invertebrates.
Can bugs be pretty, pretty enough to make a pair of gold bug jewelry from their image? I’ll let you be the judge, but my answer, of course, would be an unequivocal and resounding “YES”! Some of them are downright beautiful, as, believe it or not most people would agree. Who hasn’t been transfixed by the flight of a swallow tail butterfly, or the helicopter like motion of an irredescent dragonfly? Even a drug company is using the luminescent beauty of a lunar moth to advertise their sleeping pills, something that I find especially annoying. (I’m not big on drugs as a way to handle things in life.)
Be that as it may. I think bugs are, if not always beautiful, then always interesting. Their habits can be observed and learned by youngsters willing to watch them as they go about their daily chores below our noses. Bug cages can be constructed of screen or glass so they can be watched even closer. Kids can even learn what insects eat and keep them for a while as pets.
