Description: I realize there are a lot of owl collectors in the world, and thought something for them that could be worn comfortably all day would be a nice offering. Owl eggs are white, like other bird eggs that are laid in a dark hole. Probably because the eggs are protected so well by being in a hole, there isn’t so much need for camouflage, either. Interesting enough, even the owls that lay in plain view also have white eggs. Maybe they don’t think it matters that much since the birds sitting on the eggs are so well camouflaged. Or maybe they just like the color white. Who knows? Owls also protect their nesting sites by ferocious displays. The feathers are fluffed up so the bird looks even bigger, and they clap their upper and lower beak together to frighten away intruders. Even those big staring eyes are used to advantage. The babies can put on a good act in their self defense as well. For some reason I can picture a be-speckled ornithologist perched precariously high on some sort of ladder examining a nest full of owlets, desperately trying not to get pecked! Gold avian earrings are always tasteful, but these gold owl earrings are certainly nice for an owl lover. Another design I hope you like is the one for my new American eagle gold earrings. |
