Description: Here’s something you can amaze them with. Nine-banded armadillos ALWAYS give birth to identical quadruplets. This is the species of armadillo we have in the USA. Since they’re identical, they’re either all male or all female. I love facts like that! For an animal themed charm bracelet, my little armadillo would fit right in. Being The Magic Zoo, I have lots wildlife charms cast in 14k gold to keep him company on your bracelet. A flying gold bat charm perhaps? Armadillo armor is strange in itself. It’s made up of bony plates that have developed from the skin. The various bands are connected to the skin underneath. Even the head, tail and the limbs have a sort of armor on them. The belly, however, is soft and vulnerable. That’s why some species are able to roll up in a little ball to protect these parts from predators. What a clever design this is! However, I’m grateful it didn’t become all the rage for all mammal bodies. I’d hate to have to deal with that troublesome armor day in and day out. It just looks to be a little awkward. I’ll bet most armadillo lovers would enjoy this funny little guy. Believe it or not, I actually have one other 14k gold armadillo charm in my line. I mean, what are the odds? |
