Description: Turtles are so beautiful with their glossy shells and ability for instant self preservation. I never get tired of them, and always feel just thrilled to see one when I’m not expecting it. There’s one variety that would make me very happy to see on a walk. I don’t expect that will happen anytime soon because it’s a native of Madagascar. It’s called a radiated tortoise and it is strangely beautiful with stripes that indeed radiate across the shell in a most winsome fashion. I keep saying that someday I will get to this exotic isle, so it isn’t impossible that I’ll experience coming across one on a walk after all. It lives in thorn forests, whatever those are. Doesn’t sound too hospitable, though. They are quite threatened by humans overbuilding in their territory and eating them. How could you possibly kill and eat something of such great beauty? Well, I guess its true that hunger definitely takes precedence. They are quite long lived, if they’re allowed to live. One captive specimen has been verified as being 137 years old. If you know a special person who is fond of 14k gold reptile charms, this beautiful little version would be an exquisite gift with a lovely handcrafted quality. A rare gold bearded dragon charm might be a good companion, too. |
