Description: Frogs are just really interesting amphibians, and they have been dear to me since I was a little child watching my first baby froglets hopping around.
There are a lot of rather bizarre frogs around, mostly those in tropical parts of the world. One I find especially intriguing is the Casque-headed frog from Ecuador. It looks like dead leaves. It’s kind of hard to picture this, I know, but you’ll have to trust me on this. It has another unusual characteristic in that it never goes into the water, and carries its eggs on its back. There they develop into frogs without ever passing through the tadpole stage. Pretty efficient, really.
When my son was about 12 years old he had an African clawed frog in a little aquarium in his room for a while. I have no idea where he got it, but to me it seemed perfectly natural as I was all about having frogs in my house as a kid. The difference was that this frog lives completely in the water, never emerging as far as I know. At least this one never did!
I don’t see too many frogs here in Florida, but there must be a lot around somewhere in this semi-tropical environment. I do hear them chirping in the spring. And we have lots of fat little toads in our yard.
I have other gold frog jewelry as well, for those true frog lovers among us. And, of course more gold reptile charms such as a special gold turtle charm.
If anyone out there has a frog lover in his or her gift-giving circle, I think this 14k gold frog charm could be the start of a very amphibious bracelet.
