Description: The Quarter Horse really found his place in the sun as a horse for the cowboy of the 1800s. They are fast, they are agile and they do not give up easily. All these characteristics endeared them to their cowboy partners. They are still loved for these same reasons and useful on ranch work to this very day. Probably most of us have seen the Quarter Horse in cowboy movies doing those things that they do best. ( I created a whole body Western horse charm, too, and some others at the 14k gold horse charms home.) The Quarter Horse truly was instrumental in the “winning” of the West. They were of even temperament, the settlers used them both to ride as well as for pulling wagons. They were gentle enough for the children to ride, and they helped with the chores on the settler’s property. Now the Quarter Horse has the largest register of any breed. They are multi- talented horses and are perfect for leisure riding and in competitive sports. They are the rodeo horse and are still used with cattle. They’ve even gone back to their roots and are once again racing! Yes, Quarter Horse racing is gaining favor once again.
