Description: I like this design for its simplicity and style. Even if you weren’t involved in horses it just has an attractive design element in it that is appealing. There is a companion piece with a heart and horseshoe done as a gold charm that you can find among my unique horse charms in gold. I was reading some statistics that said that over 90% of the farrier’s work today involves shoeing the horses that are the personal horses ridden by everyday men and women. Further work is done for the Draft horses, little ponies and mules. I was surprised to learn that farriers also do work with oxen! I would think that could be a little nerve wracking, but maybe they are completely passive when having their hooves cared for. Most horses are shod about seven times a year, and almost 50% of horses are trimmed and shod all year round. The profession of being a farrier is certainly a time honored one, and a job I can’t imagine one would be interested in without a genuine interest in the health and happiness of the horses under your care. I’m sure a horse would be able to sense anyone that wasn’t working from the best interest of the horse. At least that what I’d like to think! As with all professions, I’m sure that ability in this varies.
